Madeleine Olivia designs for Pala

Pala are delighted to announce our  design collaboration with Madeleine Olivia. Sustainability and slow living advocate, author, environmentalist, animal lover, minimalist… we could go on(!).  for Pala,  Madeleine represents the perfect match to the values we champion as a business. For Madeleine, Pala presents her with the opportunity to design her very own frame alongside our design team.

The result? Well, we think it’s rather spectacular…

The style pays tribute to the iconic 50s inspired cat eye design. Finished in a pale pink ‘lychee’ bio-acetate, these vintage frames ooze retro styling. This is captured by the sculptured bevelling of the frame front along with the graduated brown lenses. More subtle detailing can be found where the Pala symbol has been switched from its traditional silver to gold.

Handmade by our small family run makers in Italy, our frames are at their sustainable best using plant-based bio-acetate from Mazzucchelli and new eco lenses (39.5% from castor bean origin).

This new Pala frame has been christened ‘Buonjo’,  the word for ‘smile’ in the dialect of the Luo Tribe, Kenya. This is a limited edition design with Madeleine’s signature authenticating the frame on the inside of the right-hand temple. Update: Please note that this limited edition frame has since sold out, but hope to offer a new opportunity soon.

We are huge fans of Madeleine’s work and heartily recommend you hop over to her YouTube channel and Instagram where you can find lots of great advice on how to simplify your life, enjoy plant-based recipes, natural beauty and much more.
